ノースショア警察より、最近アジア人女性を狙ったひったくり事件が増えているとのことです。

アジア人の女性は、かねてから、ひったくりのターゲットになりやすいと言われており、一時は犯行が減少したものの、最近になってまた新たに事件がおきています。
今年に入り1月15日、ノースショアのグレンフィールドASB銀行付近で、韓国人女性が銀行から現金を引き出して出てきたところを狙われ、車に乗って出ようとしたところを襲われました。犯人はポリネシア系の20代後半、痩身で、スバルのステーションワゴンで逃げたが、これは後で盗難車であることがわかり、乗り捨てられていた、と警察は発表しています。

皆さん、現金を多く持ち歩くとき、また銀行やＡＴＭで現金を下ろしたときなどは特に注意してください。

North Shore Handbag Snatch

The North Shore police are investigating a handbag theft which occurred on the 15th of January 2013 at about 12:15pm outside the ASB bank in Link Drive, Glenfield.

The victim was an Asian female who had exited the bank and was about to leave when a male entered her vehicle and took her handbag.

The offender who was described as being a Polynesian in his late 20’s and of thin build fled in a stolen Subaru station wagon registration DAQ311 which was abandoned a short distance away.

Women of Asian descent have been the main victims of handbag snatches in the past so this incident acts as a timely reminder to always remain vigilant.

Anyone taking money to or from banks should take extra care and precautions which will help reduce the risk of similar thefts.
